Roses Are Red

I wrote this poem Roses Are Red and shared it with a colleague Joy Jackson who developed a resource to teach the poem as an unfamiliar, or unseen text in English. She often shares students responses with me for feedback. I am always impressed at the insightful essays her students write. Also pictured below (just for fun!) is a blackout poem by one of my students Natalya Newton who is an avid book reviewer for Hooked on NZ Books. She showed me that my cynical poem, which critiques the cliché of love being perfect, does hold some value after all :)
